Eagles and Crows

by Christian Thomas Golden

What makes my job so difficult is not written in the job description. It is not the inmates. It is not the razor-wire gate. It is not the locked doors or the foul language or disrespect. What makes my job so difficult is the mentality of all the other employees. There are no teachers. There are no counselors. There are no answered questions but those found through trial and error. In fact, any staff who dares ask a question is immediately chastised for showing weakness.

What makes my job so difficult?

I feel like an eagle being baptised into the life of a crow.
