I, Bully

There was one bully from my childhood that made the most lasting impact:

Me.

I tore me down.
I avoided me.
I hit me.
I screamed at me.
I pushed me away.
I scratched, punched, laughed at, despised, ignored, abandoned, segregated me.
I stole my lunch money and gave it to another bully.

For a good portion of my childhood (and it still lingers), I made many very negative assumptions about myself.

I assumed I was worthless, stupid, talent-less, unwanted, unnecessary, ugly, disgusting, and useless.

Then, I met the girl who’d be my wife. She showered (and continues to shower) me with praise, making me feel like all those assumptions I had made about myself were wrong. Most importantly, however, she introduced me to Jesus. I no longer feel like all those assumptions were wrong; I know they were wrong.

God says I’m:

His Friend (John 15:15)
Accepted (Romans 15:7)
God’s Workmanship (Ephesians 2:10)
Righteous and Holy (Ephesians 4:24)
Dearly Loved (Colossians 3:12)

and so much more! (https://bible.org/article/who-does-god-say-i-am)

    1. Thank you. I’m forever thankful and indebted to God and my wife for all they’ve done and continue to do for me.
